    Resumo
The remission of sentence for work or study allows the inmate to be able to serve his sentence in less time and can return to social life as soon as possible. It is possible in closed and semi-open regimes, allowing the individual to prepare for their reintegration into society. In this sense, for this redemption to happen with their qualification for the labor market, the State must comply with the law, ensuring this right and providing infrastructure for carrying out work activities. The case analyzed deals with the remission at the level of the state of Ceará in one of the most troubled phases of humanity, the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, this situation meant a delay in serving the sentence for the prison population, who were unable to participate in some events that would give the right to remission during the pandemic. Keywords: Remission; Work and study; Coronavirus
