Hospital works show great constructive particularity as they are environments that need specific
care. In a health care unit, it is not possible to carry out works at any time, requiring good
planning in order to mitigate interference in hospital activities. The hospital is a living work, as
we can never determine its structure definitively over the years, as medicine is in constant
evolution, making it necessary to update its structure and equipment over time. Some
architectural and constructive solutions already foresee this expansion/innovation in the act of
elaborating a hospital project, which facilitate the insertion of these new medical solutions. The
present work presents an exploratory case study, whose methodology was the qualitative
analysis of a work that took place in a private hospital. The objective of this work is to present
a process of planning and control of hospital renovation work through a well-aligned connection
between "work x hospital operation", with delivery deadlines and area releases (even if partial)
for the beginning of activities. As with all planning prior to the start of the work (anticipation
and scheduling of purchases of equipment with longer delivery times to minimize the risk of
delays; hiring of special services; predictability of critical periods in health, as occurs here in
Ceará in the 2nd quarter of the year virus period, which considerably increases the movement
in hospital emergencies; scheduling of release phasing of areas that will be impacted by the
renovation, among others).
