Sistema prisional brasileiro - a pandemia do coronavírus e seu impacto no sistema prisional.
Resumo
The gigantic prison population present in Brazil is known, based on this
assumption and the current pandemic moment, the general objective of the
research is to discuss the impacts of the pandemic on the Brazilian prison system.
The specific objectives are to understand the pandemic, guiding human rights
and access to justice in the midst of this atypical scenario; punctuate the prison
system by discussing the consequences of imprisonment for the incarcerated,
and point out the impacts of the pandemic on the Brazilian prison system,
highlighting the consequences of the prisoner's resocialization for society, and
court decisions about the granting of freedom in times of pandemic. Through a
literature review it was found that the negligence of the authorities, who did not
make effective recommendations for the control of the virus. On the contrary, they
stopped expressing themselves and continued to reiterate punitive comments,
reiterating the need to isolate prisoners under any circumstances, ignoring the
daily dangers of life in an unhealthy and overcrowded environment. Nongovernmental organizations and enforcement agencies have condemned the
actual situation regarding the number of infections and disease control in prisons,
and the situation provided by official information channels is very different, with
many cases suspected of underreporting.
