Violência Obstétrica: a violação ao corpo e ao direito de tratamento digno às mulheres gestantes.
Resumo
Obstetric violence is a violation that occurs during the gestational period, occurring
from prenatal care to the puerperium, and it can be affected in different ways and
means by health professionals who should ensure the protection and integrity of the
pregnant woman. Affected by several women, regardless of age, marital status, race
and education, any woman is likely to suffer such abuse, and many of them believe
they are adequate processes for their pregnancy monitoring and/or obstetric
procedure. However, it is often a crime that the guilty are not held responsible for their
acts, therefore, if they are not held responsible and there is no protection, public
policies and specific federal law to combat such acts and define obstetric violence in
Brazil, therefore they will continue to be practiced. For this reason, the importance of
the debate on obstetric violence in society in general, of the dissemination of pregnant
women's rights, of an awareness campaign, as well as the surveillance and
observance of public authorities, public policies of combat, the accountability of
professionals for their acts, and mainly, of a specific federal law.
