Os impactos psicossociais do processo de adaptação em estudantes de nível superior migrantes do interior do Estado do Ceará.
Resumo
This work aims to analyze the psychosocial impacts arising from the adaptation process on
students from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) who are migrants from the interior of the
State of Ceará. The specific objectives were: 1. Characterize the challenges faced in the
transition to higher education, 2. Describe the student migration process in this context and 3.
Identify the psychosocial implications arising from this process. The study was conducted based
on qualitative and exploratory research. When addressing the challenges in the transition, the
rupture of the high school coexistence cycle stands out, highlighting feelings of incapacity and
lack of repertoire faced by students. The research emphasized the importance of the support
network and addressed specific challenges related to changing reality, including transportation,
public safety, financial difficulties and adaptation to the urban structure. With regard to the
student migration process, fundamental aspects were explored, providing a holistic
understanding of the phenomenon. In terms of psychosocial implications, the research
addresses topics such as adaptive stress, culture shock and financial difficulties. The factors that
influence the mental health of migrant students were discussed. The study provided a
comprehensive overview of the factors that impact the experience of migrant students. The
findings suggest the practical applicability of these results, guiding potential specific support
programs and contributing to the promotion of a transition without major impacts and a more
inclusive academic environment. For future research, it is recommended that studies be carried
out to analyze changes over time in psychosocial adaptation and a more in-depth investigation
of effective intervention strategies to mitigate the impacts identified.
