Resumo
The civil construction is one of the sectors of the economy that most employ a large
amount of labor. Due to the nature of the activities of workers inserted in this
environment, there is a great need to implement measures in order to plan and
organize service environments to guarantee better health and safety conditions for
those involved, in order to avoid accidents and diseases. In order to guarantee better
conditions for employees involved in labor environments, the Regulatory Norms serve
as devices to validate these objectives. Among the Regulatory Norms, one regulation
in particular stands out to govern the health and safety measures at work in the civil
construction sector, Regulatory Norm No. 18. This regulation underwent changes
during the years after it was implemented, and recently, in 2020, it underwent a major
change in its text. With this, this work aims to explore the main changes made in the
reformulated text of the new NR 18, which comes into force in 2022, through a
comparative analysis with the previous wording, in addition to reflecting on how such
changes can add to the management the safety and health of building environments.
Changes are being presented regarding the simplification and reorganization of the
text, in addition to its harmonization with other regulatory and technical standards in
force, which address more precisely certain procedures. With this, this study can help
professionals, students, and other stakeholders in the field to identify the main changes
in the new text of NR 18.
