Resumo: | The term Bibliotherapy - from the Greek, biblion and therapeia - is used to conceptualize the therapeutic function of books, emphasizing reading as something beyond an informative or recreational resource, but also understanding that stories can be a space for self-care and development of an emotional and behavioral repertoire. Thus, this article intends to analyze the possibilities and potential of Bibliotherapy, pointing out its contributions to quality of life and health promotion, while identifying the objectives of Bibliotherapy, describing its methods and contexts of application and evaluating its psychosocial effects. Therefore, it is a narrative review, with an exploratory character. As a result, it is observed that from a broad vision of the aspects that influence health, Bibliotherapy plays a role in the production of health in the most diverse contexts and without restriction of age, gender or social class. Despite the difficulty in finding its origin and unique definition of the term, Bibliotherapy has great potential for development within the technical knowledge of Psychology and is configured as an area that can still be widely explored for health promotion |
