Repercussões psicológicas, emocionais e sociais nos pais de neonatos com síndrome de Edwards internados em um hospital de Fortaleza-ce

Abstract

In order to promote reflection on the importance of humanization and integrality of care in the health field, this work aimed to verify the psychological, emotional and social repercussions that affect the parents of newborns with edwards syndrome admitted to a hospital Fortaleza-CE. This is a qualitative field research carried out with 03 family members of patients admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Center at the Hospital Infantil Albert Sabin, a reference in the care of children and adolescents in the public network of the State of Ceará. Data collection was carried out from July to November 2020 using two instruments: sociodemographic questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The data were worked from the thematic categorical analysis with the aid of the Nvivo software, being grounded and discussed from the theoretical and methodological framework of health psychology, aiming to contribute to interdisciplinarity in the health field. From the analysis, it was observed how difficult it is for parents to receive the news that their child has a rare syndrome, reflecting on emotional reactions such as sadness, crying and anger, and psychological reactions such as changes in sleep, food and also agitation motor, impacting the lives of parents and the whole family in the face of the unexpected situation. It is also possible to observe changes in the family dynamics and in the parents' routine, causing the departure from daily and professional activities, due to the impact of the diagnosis and the grief experienced with the deconstruction of plans with the baby. It was found that being beside the hospitalized baby with a reserved prognosis is extremely painful for the family, as the loss of the newborn is experienced even before the fact happens. It is understood that psychological support for family members and companions is perceived as essential to minimize the psychological, emotional and social impacts of this process. These facts prove that it is essential to outline a therapeutic plan of care, with psychological listening and support from the multiprofessional team, with its multiple knowledges, forming a care network for the patient-family to minimize the psychological, emotional and social impacts of this process of illness.
