Regulação emocional e autoeficácia parental em mães, pais ou responsáveis de crianças autistas.
Resumo
Emotional Regulation and Self-Efficacy in parents and guardians of autistic children are necessary due to the numerous changes in the family context. The main objective of the present study was to analyze the relationship between emotional regulation and parental self-efficacy in the parents/guardians of children with autism. For this purpose, an Ex post facto correlational design was used, focusing on parental self-efficacy and emotional regulation in parents or guardians of children with autism. Participants were 121 parents or guardians of children with autism. A sociodemographic questionnaire, the Difficulties of Emotional Regulation Scale and the Self-efficacy Scale were used. The results indicated that there were no significant differences between parents with one or two autistic children regarding emotional regulation and self-efficacy. Additionally, it was found that self-efficacy was negatively correlated with emotional dysregulation and with the degree of autism in children; on the other hand, no significant correlations were found between the degree of autism and emotional dysregulation. Based on these findings, the importance of investigating possible constructs that contribute to understanding and supporting the role of caregivers is highlighted
