A permanência de mulheres no contexto da violência doméstica e as suas vulnerabilidades.
Resumo
Given the high rates of violence against women, mainly linked to the domestic context of
abusive romantic relationships, in which women are the main victims, it is understood that
several factors contribute to them remaining in these relationships. Therefore, the present study
aims to investigate the conditions of vulnerability that contribute to women remaining in
romantic relationships permeated by domestic violence. For this, an integrative review was
used, with searches in the SCIELO and LILACS databases. The following Boolean descriptors
and markers were used: “domestic violence” AND “dependency” and “domestic violence”
AND “dependency”. Furthermore, complete, empirical or literature review articles were
selected, with data originating and produced in the national territory, published in Portuguese
and English and between the years 2018 and 2023, and duplicate articles in the databases used
were excluded, which had no relation to the objective of the research and that access to the
article was not available free of charge. The results highlighted the vulnerability of women in
the face of gender inequality and the power relationship of men, historically constituted with
the normalization and invisibilization of women's suffering, whether through physical,

psychological or moral violence, for example. It was also reinforced how social factors are
determinants of the propensity for domestic and community violence against women. Finally,
the studies found portray the various conditions of vulnerability that reinforce and contribute to
the context of domestic violence and the difficulty of separating women from these
relationships.
