O impacto psicológico das doenças neurocirúrgicas associadas à hospitalização em adultos e idosos.
Resumo
The objective of the research was to investigate the psychological and emotional
experiences of patients when they are hospitalized with neurological diseases. Data
collection took place from October to November 2021 with 15 adult and elderly
participants, who were in a pre- or post-operative state, admitted to the ward for
neurosurgical treatment of a referral hospital in the state public health network of Ceará.
. After signing the informed consent form (ICF), the mini mental state examination
(MMSE) was applied to assess questions related to recent memory and immediate
memory recording, temporal and spatial orientation, attention and calculation and
language - aphasia , apraxia and constructional ability. Then, individual semi-structured
interviews were carried out at the bedside in the wards. The treatment of the data was
based on the analysis of thematic categorical content by Bardin (2016). In view of the
information obtained, it was possible to systematize 04 thematic categories, as follows:
1) psychological aspects around the illness; 2) crossing the hospitalization experience;
3) difficulty in understanding the diagnosis and treatment to be performed; 4) coping
resources used by patients. It is concluded that neurological diseases have a great impact
on the life of the individual, associated with the hospitalization process, where the
patient undergoes a readaptation to his life, modifying his space and his freedom. This
crossing is composed of a mix of feelings experienced by the patient, and within this
context, he uses coping strategies, essential supports in this process such as spirituality
and family.
