Resumo
he present study addressed the role of affirmative psychotherapeutic practices and
their consequences in the psychological care aimed at the LGBTQIA+ audience
(Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and others).
Group composed of people with sexual orientations and non-heteronormative
gender identities. This condition is subject to manifestations of phobic violence of a
physical, emotional, social nature and its impacts on the process of construction
and acceptance of the identity of these individuals. We carried out qualitative
research with a focus on an integrative literature review that addressed the subject
in question. Throughout the research process, we identified aspects related to
mental illness, motivated by LGBTphobia, its main stressors and the importance of
the psychology professional, acting in an affirmative and qualified manner.
However, the scarcity of works produced points to the need to continue studies that
motivate other contributions on this topic.
