Fazer agora? Pra quê? - análise do perfil do individuo procrastinador brasileiro: uma revisão integrativa.
Resumo
Lately, more people are looking for quick decision-making, or to carry out/execute
activities or actions to avoid their accumulation the daily life. Procrastination has
been shown as an event that directly affects the performance of daily activities, and
can be also presented as a motivational mechanism, whose main function is to
temporarily avoid a possible threat to the individual. This behavior can cause
psychological suffering to the individual, as it will require them to carry out an activity
when it is close to its deadline. This integrative review aimed to investigate the
relationship between the procrastinating behavior and the following variables: sex,
self-esteem, and emotion regulation. The search was performed in the PEPSIC,
Academic Google and SciELO databases, using the descriptors procrastination,
gender, self-esteem, and emotional regulation. Based on the inclusion and exclusion
criteria, three articles published in journals from 1999 to 2017 were retrieved. The
results showed a scarce, even though growing, interest in the topic. It is indicated, for
future research, the inclusion of more diverse samples of participants, to study the
procrastination construct and other variables amongst other population groups and
not only in college students.
