Sexo e distanciamento social dos corpos: análise das práticas sexuais em tempos de Pandemia.
Resumo
The idea of sexuality is understood as a form of human expression that is impacted by the
biological perspective and the social, cultural, economic, and historical environment into
which the person is placed. Sexual behavior is thus acquired and socialized in this manner,
considering that individuals act according to the context where they are placed. The exercise
of sexuality has become more complex as a result of the pandemic and social isolation
configurations, through distancing or excessive interaction; high exposure to technology; fear
of being infected and infecting their partner; changes in sexual desire, pleasure, and
frequency; financial and psychological issues, all of which have an impact on the aspect of
sexual practices. This study aimed to understand the role of psychological and contextual
factors involved in the sexual behavior of Brazilian adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.
For this purpose, 453 participants answered sociodemographic questions and the following
instruments: Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S); Sexual Behavior Questionnaire; New
Sexual Satisfaction Scale (NSSS); and Sexual Sensation Seeking Scale (SSSS). The findings
revealed substantial differences in the frequency of sexual behavior between those with
COVID-19 and those without the condition. There were no significant differences in the
frequency of sexual behavior between people who lived alone or with others. Furthermore,
positive correlations were found between sexual behavior and the variables sexual sensation
seeking, sexual satisfaction, autoerotic frequency before to the pandemic, and sexual
frequency with other people prior to the pandemic. Negative association between social
isolation levels and sexual behavior was also found. The factors linked with sexual activity
were included as predictors in the multiple regression analysis. This enabled us to confirm
that the changes in people's sexual behavior were well explained by the variables sexual
satisfaction, sexual sensation seeking, frequency of autoerotic sexual activity before to the
pandemic, and frequency of sexual activity with others before to the pandemic. The proposed
objectives were achieved, contributing to the present literature from the deepening of
understanding about of sexual behavior and associated aspects during the COVID pandemic -
19 in the Brazilian context.
