Resumo: | The coronavirus is a family of viruses that causes respiratory infections and causes the disease called COVID-19, which spread rapidly in China and, later, infected patients were identified in other countries, resulting in a pandemic. Therefore, the anxiety of being infected can generate long-term psychological impacts. Different measures were adopted by health authorities in an attempt to contain the increase in the number of COVID19 infections, mainly through quarantine and social isolation. Millions of workers needed to adjust to new ways of working, exercising their professional functions at home, remotely, in other words, in the home office. From this perspective, some workers abdicated moments of rest and leisure to meet the demands of work. The imbalance between personal and professional life has driven studies related to workaholism (addiction to work) in recent years. With technological innovations, such as the emergence of smartphones and the internet, people are increasingly working outside of their work space and hours, remaining available and connected beyond conventional working hours. Workaholism is a common vice of modern times. Studies on this phenomenon have been carried out, mainly, in other countries. In Brazil, there is a lack of scientific studies on workaholism and its effects on the mental health of Brazilians, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic |
