Resumo: In the installation of water and sewage networks, similarly to the trenching method, non-destructive methods reduce or even eliminate the need for soil excavation, in addition to maintaining the integrity of the pavement structure and reducing social and environmental disorders. This article aims to apply destructive and non-destructive methods using different diameters, using High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) tubes, to compare the total costs, which include social costs and direct costs, from the use of a proposal to simulate an urban road, with a length of one hundred meters and its subsequent assessment of technical and economic feasibility. The results obtained portrayed that the social costs of implementing water and sewage networks are more representative in the total cost of the work, when the destructive method is used, varying according to the diameter used, about 36% to 50%, while in the non-destructive method of horizontal directional drilling, this variation is from 7.8% to 19% of the total value of the work. Although the Directed Horizontal Drilling Non-Destructive Method (MND-HDD) presents a reduction in environmental and social disorders related to its execution, it showed a higher direct cost, being, on average, 40% more expensive than the Destructive Method (MD). In view of the results achieved, it can be concluded that the trench opening method presents greater technical and economic feasibility when considering only the direct cost of construction. 5 Keywords: Destructive trenching method. Non-destructive methods. Horizontal directional drilling. Cost comparison.
