A elaboração do luto nos profissionais da saúde: desdobramentos em tempos pandêmicos.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The article aims to understand the grief experience of health professionals facing the loss of their patients during the pandemic of COVID-19 and investigate possible reverberations. Field research was conducted in a reference hospital of the public health network of the State of Ceará. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 04 professionals of different categories who worked in the 'COVID ICU'. The collected material was analyzed according to Michel Pêcheux's Discourse Analysis. As the main results evidenced with the help of the Gestalt therapy principles, we can highlight obstacles when approaching the theme, rationalization in the affection of the team-patient relationship, and identity assimilation as a conditioner of suffering. It is necessary to develop mental health interventions pertinent to this reality of specific manifestations and experiences of mourning, as well as to address mental health in their undergraduate courses so that this theme can be faced with less discomfort by health professionals in their work process.
